This intermittent clutch issue is driving me nuts!

I got a Zetor 6718 for about 5 years now. so far, so good but lately, the clutch is acting weird. Sometimes it works perfectly. Then out of nowhere when i push the clutch in, and release it, it's like the pedal is still down! the tractor won't move. If I let it sit for a bit, it'll work fine again. anyone ever seen anything like this?

That surely sounds like there's a clutch problem internally. Might also be a hydraulic issue if it's assisted so you better have a look into fluid and linkages. If you do this do update us here.

You might want to check the check the clutch fluid reservoir. Is it full? Does the fluid look clean or is it dark?

Agree with this. Did you manage to check the clutch/actually break it down to pieces since that's what really you have to do @walkinghoodie5610? Any update, a month later? So I know how I can help.

Check for air in the lines or old fluid that's lost its lubrication properties but definitely bleed the system thoroughly and maybe replace the fluid, if it keeps happening, consider swapping the master or slave cylinder

Agree with everyone's suggestions here. That does sound odd! Have you checked the clutch fluid level or looked for leaks around the master or slave cylinder? Does the pedal feel different when it acts up, like softer or slower to return?

Wouldn't this be also from the clutch binding? Haven't happen to me, but I know a few people who experienced it.

I had a friend whose old Belarus tractor did the same thing, the clutch would randomly disengage. It turned out the master cylinder had a slow internal leak, so the pressure would drop until it rested. He replaced it, bled the lines, and it worked fine after that

I had something similar on an older compact tractor a few years back. It turned out the clutch master cylinder was leaking internally...sometimes it would work fine, and other times the pedal felt soft and stayed down until pressure built back up. Replacing the cylinder fixed it completely.
